NORTHEAST DRAFTHORSE SHOEING, LLC
Re: Clinic with Bruce Matthews!
In addition to the training aspect of our clinic, we made it a point to do some farriery on every horse involved.
Each owner went home with a better standing, better behaved horse thanks to Bruce. Each horse was trimmed or, in one case, even shod.

Without a doubt, the greatest training challenge of the clinic was a 10 year old arabian gelding.
This animal was a last minute substitute at the clinic. Bruce and I visited a small herd at a neighbors so he could pick out a 'good one'.
The horses were friendly enough but had clearly not been handled in many years. They basically free run year around. According to the owner, the horse that Bruce chose had not seen a halter since he was a yearling.
PHOTOS ABOVE- Here's a couple of pics from the session with the arab.
I do have a video of Bruce trimming this horse. It's a large file so I'll have to try to find a server location for viewing.

Clinic with Bruce Matthews!
Hi Jarred,
You should be kicking yourself for not attending day two (you too Lucky Lady. by the way, I never did catch your name) Day two was just as
good, if not better, than day one. I'll leave it to Mark and others to more
eloquently summarize the events of the day. It was so educational and
enjoyable that it was still going on after the sun had set and long past the
dinner hour. I had to tear myself away as I had a 3 hour drive home last
night and I know I missed even more of the sharing of the knowledge and
wisdom that everyone brought to the table.
I can't thank Bruce enough for coming all the way to Ohio to share his
knowledge and demonstrate his horsemanship and skills that really showcases his
love of the horse. Bruce's confidence, skills and demeanor can bring about
amazing positive changes in such a short period of time. The techniques and the
equipment he uses, coupled with his teachings, brings even the most
difficult of horses to be calm, attentive and cooperative. Bruce's passion and patience to teach and help others (horses and human!) is second to none.

Re: Clinic with Bruce Matthews!
Bruce and Danvers did an outstanding job. Bruce even conned me 'n Danvers into trimming the Belgian and the mule(though Bruce did step in to help).
Tomorrow will bring more of the same. Mark is a gracious host and the facility is a great place to work.
It got rather warm and we didn't have any fans going, and I think Bruce sweated out at least one more trouser size.
If you haven't seen Bruce in action, then when you get the chance, take it. You won't be disappointed, and if you are, then you've not been paying attention.

Re: Clinic with Bruce Matthews!
I just got back from day one of this clinic. I'd just like to say thank you again to Bruce, Danvers, Mark, and even Rick.
The change in the Belgian Bruce worked on was really amazing. I still probably wouldn't get under that mule for a million bucks, but Bruce proved it can be done and improved that mule's quality of life significantly. His passion for the trade and for the horses' well-being is an example for us all.

I have trimmed each night this week, and each hoof I touch ..know , I have his words in my head.... and I was more pleased with my work, and felt better walking away then in the past.
