Third Annual Derby Days Activities Planned for May 5-6, 2001! Derby Days 2001, a weekend of several events, will take place this year on Saturday, May 5th & Sunday, May 6th: May 5: C Plant Swap held by the Kent-Delord House Museum Garden Club Place: Kent-Delord House Museum Time: 9 am to Noon May 5th May 5: C An Evening at City Hall Downs - event includes "horse" d'oeuvres, watching actual Kentucky Derby, Derby Dinner, Derby Dollars, and exciting auction! Place: Plattsburgh City Hall Time: 4:00 to 10 pm May 5th Admission: $25 - includes dinner catered by Irises Cafe & Wine Bar and live auction led by auctioneer Steve Brodi. May 6: C Poster Contest for Grades 2-3- Draw a picture of Frank Hall's horse, Zollicofer Contact Museum (561-1035) for list of contest rules and prizes; All entries to be exhibited at Derby Day Fair at Crete Center Posters due May 2nd at Museum; Prizes awarded at Derby Day Fair May 6: C Derby Day Fair -- A Celebration of Horses Place: Crete Memorial Civic Center Time: 10 am to 4 pm - May 6th Admission charge: $3 Adults; $2 Children 12 and under; Babies FREE Event includes: lots of horses, ponies, carriages, wagons of many types to see and ride, Juggles the Clown, Steve Gratto Juggler and Unicyclist, horse demonstrations of dressage, Ponies of America & Appaloosa horse versatility demonstration; numerous games with horse themes; horse arts & crafts for children; horse cartooning by Sid Couchey; horse balloon sculptures; Minor Adjustments Acapella Singers, medieval mounted games; Breyer & Pretty Pony horse show; Derby Dollars, etc. May 6: C "Fun Run for the Roses" - a 1K race for Kids and a 5K race for Runners Place: Crete Civic Center. Sunday, May 6th 1K Pony Trot for Kids--begins at 12:00 -- Registration is free. Prizes for all participants! 5K race begins immediately after 1K race is completed. Pre-registration by mail or at 11:45 am at Crete Civic Center - Entry Fee: $10 - Free T-Shirt to first 50 Race Entrants, Prize Drawings, and Refreshments. Horses follow runners! Enjoy one or more of these events! In the first two years of Derby Days, The Kent-Delord House Museum raised almost $15,000 for the museum's education and restoration programs. Proceeds from this year's Derby Days will help support maintenance and restoration work on the building as well as to support the quality educational programs of the Kent-Delord House Museum!
